Australia never lags behind when it comes to fashion. BBL is a new trend for a beautiful body flaunted by celebrities like Kim Kardashian and J Lo. This procedure gives a profound and beautiful improvement in the shape of the body (not just in the size of the buttock), because the abdomen, waist, hips, and buttocks now have a more attractive and shapely relationship to each other. The butt looks and feels as though you were born with it, unlike implants.
Most women now, want to have “lean legs with big popping bums”, because it’s a very feminine trait, which cannot be achieved at gyms.
Using your own fat can have some advantages:
It is a combination of 2 procedures
Liposuction – Fat is removed from undesired areas of your body like your belly, love handles, lower back, thighs, etc. The fat is then filtered to purify and concentrate it. Liposuction makes your waist line slimmer . A good BBL needs around 1000 ml ‘ purified fat’ injections on each side.
Injection – This concentrated fat is then injected into the upper part of your buttocks for a more rounded and fuller feminine look. Its also reinjected in the hips again to achieve your desired look.
We don’t like to link better survival rates to our better equipment or techniques.. The correct answer is … “ no one knows.”
There is no research till date that gives a reliable prediction of how much will survive and why. Fat grafting is relatively new but an amazing area for clinicians and scientists to explore further.
Generally speaking in all ideal conditions 40 – 50 % of the fat stays. Smoking, post operative protocols, amount injected, and processing techniques and size of cannulas and many other variables influence the take rate
Injected fat cells need to breath as well. Injecting more , because you have more fat , defeats survival rates . That excess amount adds to the pain, discomfort, bruising and delayed recovery. It may look big initially, only to be lost in 3 mnts time.
You need to have anything more than 400 ml each side for an outcome that is visible after 3 months ..
|Surgical time||2-4 hrs depending on how much fat is to be injected|
|Hospital||General anaesthetic in a day surgery|
|Length of stay||3-4 hrs post operation|
|Back to work||2 wks|
|Cost||The cost varies on what look you are after . That means the amount of fat to be harvested and injected . Some women want to go moderate while others don’t mind a busty bum to match their legs.|
A face to face consultation either ( on skype or in person) is necessary before the procedure to understand the details and address concerns.
Photos that show your body from the upper tummy upto the knees Front, sides and at 45 degree angles.
Dr Mahadik does not do a BBL on patients who are on blood thinners. We recommend to stop smoking 4 weeks before the surgery.
Its important to talk about what size you are after and whether that size is achievable given the amount of fat you have . Every patient has a different idea of what she thinks is the ideal buttock shape.Some patients like a more curvy, rounded shape with wide hips (hour-glass figure) while others prefer a more projected or athletic shape.
Dr Mahadik encourages you to bring in photos to understand what you are looking for.
Premarked areas for liposuction are injected with ‘tumescent solution “ containing local anaesthetic ( for pain relief ) adrenaline ( less bleeding ) and salt solution ( to break the fat ) .
Liposuction is performed as the fat is collected in sterile containers to be processed and purified.
The purified fat is injected in the pre selected areas deep at the gluteal muscle layer. This gives the fat a better chance to survive with good blood supply around the muscle.
Any BBL procedure comes with a strict protocol after surgery. This could be quite inconvenient and we recommend you to arrange a cooperative support person and few things at home before you decide to go for it.
Seating protocol – Ideally. lying on your sides on couches / beds is recommended for the first 3 wks. Sitting for a short intervals ( 15 – 20 mins ) on soft pillows maybe OK.
As mentioned injected fat cells need space to breath and prolongrd pressure affects their survival.
|Sleeping||You should not sleep on your back. Sleep with your tummy down for 4 wks|
|Smoking||is a big no no for 4 wks before and 4 wks after|
|Work||can start in 2 wks assuming it dosent involve strenuous activities.|
|Gym||is OK after 4 wks|
|Garments||need to be worn for 4-6 wks.|
|Liposuction care||need to be worn for 4-6 wks.|
